The figures can be wrong
Every value here is extracted from a filing a company submitted to the SEC and normalized by software. Extraction can select the wrong concept, a filer can tag a figure incorrectly, and a company can restate a year it has already reported. Values shown are the latest observation available and may differ from what was originally filed. Verify anything material in the original document, which every value links to.
Calculated figures are not reported figures
Some metrics are read directly from a filing and some are calculated from other values — free cash flow from operating cash flow and capital expenditure, margins from their components. Calculated values are labelled as such. They are arithmetic performed here, not numbers the company published, and they inherit any error in their inputs.
Missing is not zero
Where a figure is unavailable the site shows a dash and says why. It is never replaced with zero, inferred from a neighbouring concept, or reconstructed by adding up segments. A company reporting no value for a metric and a company reporting zero are different facts and are shown differently.
Not comparable across every filer
Banks, brokers and insurers present a top line that is not an operating company’s revenue: net of interest expense, or premiums earned, depending on the filer. Those companies are labelled, and a screen can exclude them. Comparing across the classes compares different measures.
When a check does not reconcile
Each published period is tested against identities its statements should satisfy, and the ones that do not are shown on the company’s page. That is a statement about this site’s normalization, not an allegation about the company. A difference usually means the concepts selected here do not match how that filer presents its statements. The filing is authoritative; this site is not.
